My name is EFFIE.
I AM a Hellenic-Canadian vocalist, lyricist, songwriter, poet and author with acting experience. Formerly represented by Canadian Idol's Zack Werner and Sanderson Law, I have received strong international industry interest and have completed countless live performances in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. I have co-written and recorded two albums, the first with my rock/fusion band, and the second as a solo pop artist. I continue to write, record, perform and act.
I sang by request at Nana Mouskouri's Toronto concert. I am currently recording, performing, and creating my original music.
My Producer James Robertson (Trouble & Daughter, Skye Sweetnam, Down With Webster, etc.) and I wrote and recorded my solo pop album. It quickly signed me with manager Zack Werner (Canadian Idol), and Sanderson Taylor representation, and gained serious interest and offers from major U.S. record labels, and EMI Music Publishing Canada.
I joined my Orthodox Christian Church choir of Byzantine music for about a year before becoming lead vocalist of my pop rock band, Illusion, for 3 years. We recorded an album and did live shows and battle of the bands competitions, which we rocked and won! I have also performed live with Liam Killeen's (Not By Choice) punk band and with Greek bands in addition to my own.
I had my first speaking role in a film at age nine, and I started modelling for book covers that same year. I have acted in various roles in both independent and Cineplex release films, including as lead alongside Daniel DeSanto (Mean Girls).
I am a published lyrcist (Sony/ATV), author and poet. With the exception of two children's stories, I write fiction for adults, including Historic Fiction, Adult Women's Fiction, and YA novels.
I worked as editor of non-fiction books at BurmanBooks, and as an online columnist. While receiving my Masters degree in New York, I became editor of SKETCH Literary and Arts Magazine. I composed weekly Hotel and Restaurant Reviews for The Catalyst, and was creator of Christian Corner, a series of intellectual articles for the University's weekly paper.
